Midtronics increases investment in future technologies
Midtronics today announced the hiring of Jim Klang as Senior Staff Scientist for its research and development team. In his new role, Klang is in charge of the advanced development of testing and charging algorithms for AGM and spiral wound batteries, 42 volt systems, and advanced battery chemistries.
"We are very excited to have Jim join our team in the position of Senior Staff Scientist,” said Kevin Bertness, Vice President of Research & Development, “ Jim brings with him an extensive background and expertise in the lead acid battery industry, including over 30 years in research and development of high-rate charging, control systems, and diagnostics for automotive, HEV, and industrial batteries.” Bertness added, “Jim holds numerous patents in battery and charging related areas, including the key patents behind the development of the QuickSmartâ tester/charger system technology, acquired recently by Midtronics from Exide Technologies.”
Klang comes to Midtronics after working with GNB Technologies, Optima Batteries and most recently with Klang Consulting Services, Inc., where he supported research in high power battery systems, battery diagnostics and battery additives. Klang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota Duluth with extensive computer and microprocessor programming experience as well.
