New range of SLA batteries offers 25% higher capacity

A new range of high-capacity, sealed, lead-acid batteries is now available from Stortech Electronics. Offering high discharge rates and charge capacities up to 25% higher than conventional batteries, the products are ideal for a wide range of applications such as stairlifts, portable air-conditioning units, instrumentation equipment, UPS systems and golf carts.

Offering capacities of 9Ah and 20Ah, compared with the industry standard 7Ah and 17Ah, the new Diamec DMU12-9 and Diamec DMUF12-20 offer 25% higher capacity than other products and features a unique, advanced valve assembly design. Application and/or Design Engineers need to make fewer compromises in circuit specification than is required with more limited products.

Measuring 151mm x 65mm x 101mm, and weighing just 2.7 kg, the Diamec DMUF12-9 offers a rated capacity of 9AH (20 hours @ 0.45A) and features an F2-Faston Tab No. 250 standard terminal. While charging, the device draws an initial charging current of less than 2.7A and requires a constant voltage charge of between 14.4V and 15.0V at 20°C with a temperature coefficient of -30mV/°C. For standby use, the Float charging voltage is between 13.5V and 13.8V at 20°C with a temperature coefficient of -20mV/°C.

The Diamec DMU12-20 measures just 181mm x 77mm x 167mm and weighs approximately 6.4 kg and offers a rated capacity of 20Ahr (20 hours @ 1A). Featuring a standard B2 bolt and an M5 nut, the unit draws an initial charging current of less than 6A. Constant charging voltage is required with a voltage of between 14.4V and 15.0V at 20°C with a temperature co-efficient of -30mV/°C for cyclic mode. For standby mode the Float charge voltage required is between13.5V to 13.8V with a temperature coefficient of -20MV/°C.
