Rex™ PC companion launched in Canada

The REX PC Companion has arrived in Canada. REX has achieved such strong sales in the U.S. that Franklin Electronic Publishers sold out of its initial product run and increased production twice in order to meet retail demand; new shipments have just arrived in Canada. The award-winning REX PC Companion is a major technology breakthrough, combining the ultimate in personal information management (PIM) software design and data synchronization with a remarkable advancement in PC-Card technology.

This first-ever PC-Card with a glare-free LCD screen allows mobile professionals anytime, anywhere access to PC organizer data. By plugging the REX PC Companion into a Type II PC-Card slot on any notebook computer, PC organizer data can be instantly downloaded to the device; desktop users can download data through the REX Serial Docking Station connected to a PC serial port.

"We have taken data portability to the extreme with REX, our most important personal information management launch to date," said Mike Strange, Executive Vice President, Franklin Electronic Publishers. "Canada is one of the most PC literate nations in the world. Given this fact, REX is poised for success because Canadian executives will now have a micro-size platform to instantly view their PC-based organizer data at an affordable price."

The REX Information Manager -- PIM and synchronization software that allows users to easily enter, import and download organizer data from the PC into the micro-size device -- completes the package. This software also imports existing organizer data from most popular PIM and contact management programs including Starfish's Sidekick 98, Symantec's ACT! 3.06, Microsoft's Schedule+ 7.0 and Microsoft Outlook 97, Lotus Organizer 97, and others.
