National Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program
COMTREX Communications
has joined a national program called
Charge Up to Recycle!(R) that helps consumers, businesses and communities
conveniently recycle their used portable rechargeable batteries.
COMTREX is providing its customers with an easy way to recycle their used
portable rechargeable batteries. Comtrex will be conducting a 'Battery credit
and recycle program' until October 31, 2004. During the campaign, Comtrex
will pay for the first shipment of batteries sent to RBRC for recycling and
also give a credit towards the purchase of new batteries.
We are very excited to be able to align ourselves with the Rechargeable
Battery Recycling Corporation's Charge Up to Recycle!(R) program. It's
a perfect fit for our organization and will be a strong addition to our
customer service initiative.
While the batteries we sell can be recharged up
to 1000 times, eventually over time can no longer hold a charge. Now instead
of throwing the batteries away, our customers can recycle them through the
award-winning Charge Up to Recycle!(R) recycling program, said Richard Myers,
President, COMTREX Communications.
Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion)
and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) batteries are commonly found in portable
electronic products such as cellular and cordless phones, laptop computers,
cordless power tools, two-way radios and camcorders.
The batteries that RBRC will collect through the support of COMTREX
Communications and their customers are processed at a recycling facility and
useful materials can be reclaimed to make stainless steel products and new
rechargeable batteries.
We are delighted to have the support of COMTREX Communications to help
involve their customers in our recycling program, said Susan Antler, Canadian
Program Coordinator, RBRC. Recycling used rechargeable batteries is an easy
way for all of us to make a real and positive difference for the environment.
* As part of the ongoing dynamics of the RBRC program, businesses pay for
the shipping costs of their used rechargeable batteries to the RBRC
consolidation facility in Fort Erie, ON. The additional costs to ship
the batteries to the recycling facility in the United States as well as
to recycle them are covered by the RBRC.
COMTREX will credit businesses
for the cost of their first RBRC collection container on their next purchase/invoice with COMTREX. There is no charge for
communities and public agencies to participate in the RBRC program.
