Correcting and Replacing Duracell AA Battery

Duracell's AA alkaline battery is included in an exhibition entitled Humble Masterpieces at the Museum of Modern Art in Queens, New York. The exhibition is on view through September at MoMA's temporary exhibition facility in Long Island City, Queens, New York.

Humble Masterpieces spotlights everyday objects modest in size and price, that are true masterpieces of design. The Duracell AA battery, which first appeared in 1960, was included in Humble Masterpieces by the exhibition's curator Paola Antonelli of MoMA's Architecture and Design Department. It sits alongside other distinguished entrants such as chopsticks, safety pins, an ice cream scoop and Post-It notes.

It's hard to imagine life without the familiar copper and black battery, said Mark Bertolami, Vice President of Marketing for Duracell. Our AA battery has powered everyday devices in homes and business for decades -- and it continues to be a trusted object for people in over 60 countries around the world.

The Duracell brand name was first adopted in 1964. Seven years later, the distinctive copper and black CopperTop graphic was first introduced. Today's AA battery looks similar to the version that was launched decades ago, but incorporates major advances in chemistry along with safety and environmental features that make it ideal for powering a vast range of portable devices.
